Peugeot and Citroen DPF cleaning
Peugeot and Citroen diesels are among the most common DPF fault vehicles we deal with. The PSA/Stellantis diesel engines in these cars and vans have a specific system, called Eolys, that plays a direct role in keeping the DPF clean. When that system is not maintained, the DPF blocks. We clean Peugeot and Citroen DPFs on site, without removing the filter, for a fixed price of £275.
Understanding the Eolys system
Most diesel drivers have heard of the DPF. Far fewer know about the Eolys system, and that gap in knowledge is responsible for a large proportion of the DPF blockages we attend on Peugeot and Citroen vehicles.
Eolys is a cerium-based additive fluid stored in a separate tank, usually located near the fuel tank or in the engine bay. The engine management system injects tiny amounts of this fluid into the diesel as the engine runs. When the fuel burns, the cerium lowers the temperature at which soot inside the DPF combusts. This makes regen cycles more effective. The filter can clean itself at lower exhaust temperatures than it otherwise could.
The Eolys tank is separate from your engine oil and from your AdBlue tank if you have one. It needs to be topped up periodically, typically every 60,000 to 120,000 miles depending on the vehicle and the Eolys fluid specification. The problem is that most service schedules do not flag Eolys as a routine check item, and many independent garages and even some main dealers miss it.
When the Eolys level drops, regen efficiency falls. Soot accumulates faster than it burns off. The DPF loads up, and eventually you see the warning light.
How we approach Peugeot and Citroen DPF cleaning
Our chemical flush dissolves the soot and ash deposits that have built up inside the DPF, the deposits that formed precisely because the Eolys system was not maintaining effective regen cycles. The process is carried out with the filter in place on the vehicle, at your location, and takes around 90 minutes.
We start with a diagnostic scan to read the DPF load level and check for any associated fault codes. We then introduce the cleaning solution, allow it to dwell, and run a controlled purge cycle to clear the dissolved material. A second diagnostic scan confirms the result before we leave.
If your Eolys level is low, we will flag it during the visit. The clean itself does not include an Eolys top-up, that is a separate job requiring the correct fluid specification for your vehicle, but we will advise you on what needs doing and point you in the right direction.

The fixed price of £275 covers travel to your location, the pre-clean diagnostic check, the chemical flush procedure, and the post-clean scan to confirm the result. There is no surcharge for heavily blocked filters and no call-out fee on top of the quoted price.
Peugeot and Citroen DPFs, particularly on the 308 and C4, are quoted in the £400 to £700 range for replacement parts alone. The flush is the right first step in nearly every case where the filter is physically sound and the blockage is soot-based rather than mechanical damage.
