How the Fiorino gets used
The Fiorino earns its living on exactly the kind of week that gives a DPF the hardest time: sole traders, couriers and small delivery rounds doing stop after stop, ten minutes here, five there, engine barely warm before it's switched off again at the next drop. It's a small van built for tight streets and quick turnarounds, and that's precisely the driving pattern that stops a regen from ever completing.
The 1.3 Multijet engine needs a sustained spell of load and exhaust heat to burn soot out of the filter, and a multi-drop city round rarely delivers it. A Fiorino doing the same tight local circuit day after day can load its filter with soot faster than a van covering similar mileage on a mix of motorway and town work.
What changes after the clean
The warning light goes out, the flat spot pulling away disappears, and the van stops dropping into limp mode halfway round a round. Exhaust flow through the filter is restored, the fault codes are cleared, and the Fiorino goes back on the road the same visit. The 1.3 Multijet is the standard diesel across the Fiorino range from launch, sharing its common-rail architecture with other small Fiat Multijet units, including the Fiat Doblo.
