Which DPF service does your Proace need
Most Proace vans that reach us need a clean, not a new filter, £275 fixed whether you call it a clean or a repair, the same chemical-flush job either way. Replacement only makes sense once a filter is physically cracked or melted, and even then an aftermarket part fitted independently usually beats a dealer or main agent quote (see our replacement cost comparison).
How the Proace gets used
Most Proace vans on the road around Manchester are doing multi-drop delivery work, a courier round, or a trade van loaded at the depot before seven, then a string of short hops across town with the engine off at every stop. That stop-start pattern is the worst case for a DPF: the exhaust rarely holds a high enough temperature for long enough to burn off soot before the next short leg begins.
The Proace's PSA-based diesel engines, the DV6, DW10 and later DV5, use an Eolys additive fluid to help lower the temperature the filter needs to reach for a regen, which usually means a slightly later warning than a non-additive engine. Once the additive runs low or the soot load gets ahead of it regardless, the same short-run pattern catches up with the van just as it would with any diesel.
What changes after the clean
The warning light goes off, the van pulls cleanly again without the flat spot under load, and limp mode is gone. Fuel economy usually improves too, since a loaded filter makes the engine work harder to push exhaust through it. We don't remove the filter for the flush, so there's no gasket work and nothing to reseal. Most Proace vans are back on the round the same visit, with a post-clean pressure check confirming the filter is flowing properly before we leave the depot or yard.

Both PSA-sourced units use Eolys additive fluid to help lower the soot combustion temperature, which can mean the dash stays quiet slightly longer than on a non-additive diesel before a fault shows. P2463 and P2002 are the codes we see most often once it does.
DV6 1.6, DW10 2.0 and DV5 1.5 (Mk2, 2016 onward)
