Which DPF service does your SEAT need
Most SEATs that come to us with a DPF light need a clean rather than a new filter. £275 fixed covers the chemical flush, whether it's described as a clean or a repair; they're the same process. Replacement is only worth considering once a filter is physically cracked or melted, not simply blocked with soot, and even then an aftermarket part fitted independently usually beats a dealer quote (see our replacement cost comparison).
How SEAT diesels get used
A big share of the Leons we see are on PCO plates, doing private hire work across Manchester and racking up serious mileage on largely short urban legs punctuated by the odd airport run. The Ateca, Tarraco and Alhambra tend to be family vehicles instead, doing the school run and a weekly supermarket shop with a longer motorway trip most weekends. Both patterns share the same weak point for a DPF: plenty of stop-start driving, not always enough sustained high-speed running to let the EA189 or EA288 engine burn off the soot it's building up.
High-mileage PCO Leons in particular rack up the miles fast but rarely get the sustained run their DPF actually needs, which is why they're a regular booking for us.
What changes after the clean
Warning light off, power restored, no more limp mode cutting a private hire shift short or leaving a family car underpowered on the motorway. The filter flows properly again, fault codes clear, and the vehicle goes back on the road the same visit. For a PCO driver paid by the job or a family relying on an Alhambra for the school run, that's the difference between a lost day and a normal drive home.

Leon (2005 onward)
Mk2 1.9 and 2.0 TDI PD then EA189 from 2008, Mk3 1.6 and 2.0 TDI EA189 then EA288 from 2015, Mk4 EA288 evo. The model we quote for most across the range, and a common PCO choice.
Tarraco (2018 onward)
