Why the Kamiq keeps flagging a DPF fault
The pattern on a Kamiq usually starts the same way: a run of short journeys, a commute of a few miles, a school run, nothing long enough to get the exhaust properly hot. The dash shows a DPF warning light first, sometimes with a slight hesitation on acceleration. Push on regardless and the car pulls power back within a day or two, sitting low in the rev range and refusing to respond the way it normally would. That's limp mode, and by the time it shows, the filter has usually been quietly loading up for weeks.
The 1.6 TDI EA288 engine fitted across the Kamiq range needs a sustained spell at a steady cruising speed to burn the accumulated soot off on its own. A small SUV doing mostly local trips rarely gets that chance, so the passive regen the engine is designed to run in the background never completes, and P2463 and P2002 get stored as the ECU flags the rising soot load and falling filter efficiency in turn.

Kamiq: 1.6 TDI EA288, 2019 onward
The Kamiq launched in the UK in 2019 with a single diesel option, VW Group's 1.6 TDI EA288. As the newest model on this page, its fault record is thinner than an older, longer-established Skoda, so treat any specific mileage figure or regen interval with caution until confirmed. What a chemical flush fixes on a Kamiq
The cleaning agent breaks down the soot and ash a regen cycle never got hot enough, or ran for long enough, to burn off. We introduce it through the filter's existing service ports, so the DPF itself never comes off the car. Once the agent has worked through the substrate during a controlled engine sequence, flow through the filter is restored and the stored fault codes clear along with the warning light. The turbo and EGR system are not touched during the process.
