The replacement bill on a Fabia
A new DPF on a Fabia is a smaller job than on a bigger VW Group car, but it still isn't cheap. Fitted through a dealer, an OEM filter typically runs to £1,200 to £1,500 or more once labour is added. Independents can often source an aftermarket part for less, more commonly £800 to £1,000 fitted, but that's still a substantial bill relative to the car's value, and it's rarely the first thing worth trying. Most Fabias that come to us with a DPF warning are carrying a filter that's simply full of soot, not one that's physically failed, and a clean restores it for a fraction of the replacement cost.

Fabia engines covered
1.9 TDI PD (2000 to 2007)
Early DPF-equipped Fabias run pump-düse injection with no additive fluid. Fitment on the smallest engines is patchy on the earliest cars, so confirm a given Fabia actually has a DPF before assuming.
1.2 and 1.4 TDI, PD then EA189-based (2007 to 2018)
The bulk of diesel Fabias run a 1.2 or 1.4-litre unit, moving from pump-düse to VW Group's EA189-based common-rail architecture over the model's life. Diesel was dropped from the Fabia range at the 2018 facelift, so the current Mk4 is petrol-only. What happens on the day
We come to the Fabia wherever it's parked, run a diagnostic to confirm soot load and any stored codes, then introduce the cleaning agent through the filter's existing service ports. A controlled engine sequence works the agent through the substrate, we check the differential pressure reading afterwards, and clear the codes once flow is confirmed restored. The whole visit runs to roughly 90 minutes.
