Which engine is in your Giulietta
Every diesel Giulietta runs a version of Fiat's Multijet common-rail diesel, badged JTDM under the Alfa Romeo name. Two displacements were offered through the car's single generation.

The 1.6 is the more common engine on UK roads and, being the smaller unit, tends to need a slightly longer or more sustained run to reach regen temperature than the 2.0. Neither engine uses an additive fluid: both rely on exhaust heat and drive cycle alone to complete a regeneration, which is why short, low-speed journeys around town are the pattern that catches most Giulietta owners out.
How the clean is done on a Giulietta
The process is identical whether your Giulietta has the 1.6 or the 2.0, and it's carried out wherever the car is parked, not at a garage.
A diagnostic read confirms the soot load and pulls any stored fault codes before work starts.
The chemical cleaning agent is introduced through the DPF's existing service ports. No removal, no ramp.

Which of these does your Giulietta need

Does the regen system differ between Giulietta engines?
Not in any way that changes the fix. Both the 1.6 and 2.0 JTDM units use the same non-additive regen strategy, so neither warns earlier or later on principle, and a motorway run helps both engines in roughly the same way. The main practical difference is that the smaller 1.6, working harder for the same road speed, can be a touch quicker to load up on a car used mostly for short local trips. Whichever engine is fitted, the dash symptoms, the fault codes and the £275 price are the same.
